Miss Tourism Samal Island 2011{0}
The first (?) annual Miss Tourism Samal Island is set to present the Grand Coronation Night on May 14, 2011 at the Samal Gym, Peñaplata, Island Garden City of Samal. Visit Samal Island has posted a nice promotional video, which you can view here, or on their Facebook page. This event is the near the end of the nearly 2 month Visit Samal Island promotions that have been presented by the Samal Island Toursim Council in conjunction with the Mindanao Tourism Council. It’s great to see that Samal has taken the initiative and started doing this kind of advertising to increase awareness of the island.
Being the first year they have done this, I am sure that they have learned a lot about what is and what is not effective, and will continue to refine the promotions in the future. I, for one, don’t know that I would travel to Samal Island just to watch a beauty pageant, but I might take it in if I were already there. Being how Visit Samal Island has a website and the Facebook page, I’m sure they would welcome any feedback regarding the promotions, not only what you enjoyed but also what you might like to see in the future. At least I would hope they would welcome the feedback.
In my opinion some of the best aspects of the promotions were the deals that some of the resorts and related companies were offering during that time. There are many discounts to take advantage of. It was great to see the support of the businesses there during this time. My hats off to whoever was responsible for pulling this all together. I hope that it continues to build, and that the resorts and businesses continue to work together to market Samal Island in a positive way.
